ITI students will now get international exposure, employability, Minister Vishwajit Rane signs Indo-German agreement

Panaji:  The Goa government on Thursday signed a tri-partite agreement to carry out world-class German Dual Vocational Education and Training in its Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).

State Minister for Skill Development Vishwajit Rane said that this agreement would help in making students in various ITIs across the state to be employable, globally due to their Up-skilling.

The virtual MoU was signed between Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Siemens Limited and German-headquartered GIZ to deploy world class German Vocational Education and Training in government ITIs.

Rane said that this is a first of its kind Government, Industry and International Development Agency collaboration for skill training in the state of Goa.

He stated that the trades including electrician, electronics mechanical, fitter, turner and machinist, which are currently taught in the ITIs,  would comes under the ambit of this MoU.

“Simens and GIZ India will undertake intensive training of the instructors of ITIs and hand hold them throughout this process,” he said.

The MoU will facilitate in-plant training of the students so that they can get practical hands on experience in their respective trades, the minister said adding that the students will be exposed to the latest advancement in the industry as well as vastly improve their employability.

Rane said that the agreement would ensure optimal Up-skilling of the ITI graduates including green skilling at par with the latest technological developments in the industry thereby remarkably enhancing the employability of graduates from these ITIs.

“I am very happy that this Indo-German initiative of training is going to play a role in increasing employability of the students,” he added.
