IT Minister Rohan Khaunte Reviews Progress at EMC, Tuem

Pernem, March 2026: IT Minister Rohan Khaunte reviewed the progress at the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC), Tuem, during a stakeholder meeting held on March 18, 2026. The review highlighted the Minister’s focus on expediting project completion and ensuring the site is ready for operations.

The meeting was attended by Kabir Shirgaonkar, Director, DITE&C; Praveen Volvotkar, MD, ITG; Subrai Nadkarni, Chief Engineer, ITG; Dr Milind Sakhardande, Joint Director, DITE&C; along with senior officials from the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C), Goa Information Technology Development Corporation (GITDC), Info Tech Corporation Goa (ITG), Goa Electricity Department, Public Works Department (PWD), Goa Police, and the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services.

During the site walkthrough, the Minister inspected the warehouse, waste management building, and other facilities. Rohan Khaunte emphasised the importance of completing physical infrastructure, including essential utilities and common amenities, to ensure seamless operations.

The review also enabled departments to discuss logistical requirements. The Minister addressed specific needs raised by the Fire and Emergency Services and the Electricity Department. He further highlighted the need to install a communication and internet tower, directing stakeholders to expedite the process to avoid delays.

The Minister stressed maintaining high standards of upkeep and security to ensure readiness before operations commence. He added that EMC Tuem is vital for Goa’s future, aiming to position the state as a key electronics manufacturing hub, attract investments, generate high-quality local employment, and strengthen Goa’s industrial growth.
