Panaji : Indian Meteorological Department has issued updates of ongoing heavy rainfall events over Goa. As per the latest observations made at 4:00 PM on June 14, 2021 “Rain bearing clouds are approaching from Arabian sea towards North Goa and South Goa Districts” said IMD Goa.
Panaji and most places over North and South Goa districts are very likely to experience Moderate rainfall spells during the next 4 hours. Intense spells are also very likely at times for short intervals.
IMD informed Rainis is very likely to be accompanied with winds of speed 30-40 kmph over North and South Goa districts. Isolated locations and ghats may receive prolonged spells of rain.
In both districts short term flooding/water logging of roads and settlements is expected. IMD has also warned of these impacts : Localized and short-term disruption to municipal services (water, electricity,etc.) ; Water logging/ flooding in urban or city areas; Fall of weak trees; Possibility of Mudslides and rock falls in hilly and ghat areas ; Possible damage to crops ; Possibility of increase in water level in rivers and canals.
