IMA urges Goa govt to incorporate sections of Epidemic Act into Medicare Act

Panaji: Indian Medical Association’s (IMA) Goa Chapter on Tuesday urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to incorporate all the sections in the Epidemic Act to the Medicare Act, 2013 so that even after the pandemic situation, the medical professionals can get the protection.

IMA Goa Chapter Dr Samuel S in a representation handed over Sawant in presence of State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Tuesday said that

IMA, in a memorandum, has urged State government to incorporate all the section added in Epidemic act by Central government, under which people can be punished  for instigating or causing harm to doctors or paramedical staff  or damage to the clinics or Hospital in Goa, to Medicare act of 2013 so that these sections will continue to be in force even if epidemic act is with drawn after COVID-19 is under control.

Samuel said that Chief Minister was extremely sympathetic to the demands of IMA Goa and has assured to do the needful.
