IIT-Goa campus will strengthen economy of Sattari, surrounding areas: Vishwajit Rane

Panaji: Reacting to the transfer of ten lakh square metres of land at Guleli in Sattari for IIT—Goa campus, local MLA and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the new campus will help to strengthen the economy of Sattari and surrounding areas.

Rane in a series of tweets said “I extend my gratitude to Hon’ble CM @DrPramodPSawant for approving the decision to build IIT in Guleli and turning our dream into reality. It gave me immense pleasure to receive the sanctioned document for construction of IIT.”

“The prestigious body of knowledge holds a massive reputation and it will get Goa on the educational map of the country. Being one amongst the top in the country, it will raise the standard of education, nurture innovation and entrepreneurship,” he said in another tweet.

“Coming into Goa, IIT will not only create a strategic bridge between various stakeholders, but strengthen the ecosystems of the neighbouring areas of Sattari and Usgao, synthesize the knowledge of our youth, and generate employment for our citizens,” he tweeted.

Rane further said in his tweet “Also as discussed with Mr @bkIITGoa, we wil have a minimum of 5000 people living on the campus which will, in turn, boost the economy of Sattari and neighbouring areas in a large way.”
