Panaji: The CII Goa State Level Kaizen Competition 2022 was organised by CII Goa for the Goan Industry. IFB Industries Ltd. Kineco Kaman Composites India Pvt Ltd and GMI Zarhak Moulders Pvt Ltd won the winner’s Trophy in the large, Medium and Small Scale Category respectively, while Goa Glass Fibre Ltd a and EPL Ltd are the first and second Runners up respectively in the large scale category. In the Medium Scale Category, Kineco Kaman Composite India Pvt Ltd while GMI Zarhak Moulders Pvt. Ltd. Ltd were the winners in the Small Scale Category. United Spirits Limited and Siemens Ltd bagged the Appreciation Award.
In today’s scenario, “KAIZEN activity“ is one of the benchmarked tools that not only enhances the growth of any Organisation, but also uplifts the Morale of the employees, setting a good example of “employer – employee relationships”, as it calls for collaboration, commitment & teamwork from top to down. KAIZEN involves setting standards and then continually improving Productivity, Quality, Safety, Delivery and morale & reduction of maintenance and manufacturing cost. These can range from a very small improvement (leading to few hundreds of Rupees saving) to a very large improvement (leading to crores of Rupees saving). Usually KAIZEN ideas are given by the people from the shop floor. KAIZEN’S require little or no investment and at times lead to substantial savings or productivity improvement”.
To create an awareness of the KAIZEN Practices in the industry and make them known to all, Confederation of Indian Industry organised the fourth edition of the KAIZEN Competition- Goa State Level today, 21 April at Vivanta by Taj, Panaji Goa.
At the inaugural Mr Mahendra Wani, Convenor CII Panel on Manufacturing and Location Head, Siemens Ltd, Goa Unit welcomed the participants and encouraged the Industry to participate in such programs being organised by CII to build the Competitiveness of the Industry. KAIZEN, a Japanese management philosophy, promises big rewards through continuous incremental change. The word KAIZEN means “continuous improvement”. It comes from the Japanese words “KAI” meaning school and “ZEN” meaning wisdom. Many of the industries follow KAIZEN philosophy, lots of KAIZEN’s are identified in organisations every year and these lead to continuous improvement and considerable saving in terms of time and monetary saving too. Various initiatives are being carried out by CII to create and sustain an environment conducive to the growth of industry. One such initiative that CII Goa State has begun since the last three year is the KAIZEN Competition, This being the Fourth State Level Kaizen Competition, there was a good response from the industries across Goa.
Ms. Gunjan Manerikar, Head Manufacturing, Nestle India Ltd, Mr. Jagdish Dalal Senior Manager Operations, Commscope India Pvt Ltd., Mr. Raj Bakhale, Heads Production MRF Ltd, the jury at the Competition stated that every participating Team was a winners not only for improving the performance of their respective companies but also for enabling India to place itself higher in its aspiration to become one of the leading economies of the world. The jury mentioned that participation of Companies itself justifies that companies are continually practicing quality tools which is a very good thing which ultimately results in delivering quality good to the end user. This shows the enthusiasm of the participants & industry the love for KAIZEN, and we glad that the message of KAIZEN is being spread deep across industries in Goa. KAIZEN, will help us a long way in achieving our organizations goals and contribute in our country’s industrial growth too.
