Porvorim: On Wednesday, Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo pointed out that Sulabh toilet at Vagator was in a bad shape. It was repaired only after we protested at tourism department. When was the last inspection was done of this toilet.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte responded that the existing there are 3 toilets at Vagator. MLA has been voicing her opinion that toilet should be available for the public.
“The toilet is 500 metres away from beach, it becomes “impractical” for the tourists to go there. We have inspected the Sulabh toilet in last fortnight after the complaint from the MLA.”
Khaunte said that one of the toilet which is given to a private player since 2013 will now be repaired by the department. The person with whom the lease deed was signed has disappeared.
Lobo claimed that the the agency incharge of maintaining the toilet is over pricing. The board mentioning about the charges should be displayed outside.
Khaunte said “We will display the rates outside. If anyone is overcharging, they can call the Helpline 1364 and department will act, immediately.”
