Panaji: The apprehensions are raised that the declaration of Tiger Reserve may affect the entire corridor from North to South Goa.
The villagers living in and around Mhadei wildlife sanctuary fear that the declaration of reserve may affect their livelihood and further progress in those areas.
The impact may also be seen right up to Cotigao wildlife sanctuary, they fear.
The hopes are now pinned on the state government to provide the solution.
While Forest department is yet to conduct the impact assessment study of the Tiger Reserve, the villagers claim that their relocation from the forest area may create livelihood issues for them.
State government has already clarified that they would be challenging the order of the HC before the Supreme Court. State Wildlife Board earlier had rejected the proposal to declare Mhadei wildlife sanctuary as a Tiger reserve.
Govt needs to wake up now and work out the strategy to ensure that the Tiger Reserve happens and not become a part of disaster of the Goa’s ecology.
