Panaji: A delegation of the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress, led by Archit Naik, President, Goa Pradesh Youth Congress, along with Swapnil Patil, IYC Goa In-charge, Janardhan Bhandari, Ex General Secretary, GPCC, Pralay Bhagat, District Youth Congress President, Vaishnav Pednekar, Youth Congress Vice President, and Navdeep, met the Director General of Police, Goa, to raise serious concerns regarding the growing drug menace in the state. The delegation also submitted a memorandum highlighting the alarming proliferation of drugs, particularly in the hinterlands of Goa.

The delegation urged the DGP to initiate strict and time-bound action against those involved in drug trafficking and peddling, and to enforce a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs in Goa, considering the devastating impact of substance abuse on the youth.

The memorandum further stated that incidents of drug abuse are on the rise on educational campuses and demanded that the police take serious note of the issue and initiate firm action to curb the menace.

The Goa Pradesh Youth Congress also demanded a thorough probe into the BITS Pilani death case, stressing that justice must be delivered and the truth must come out.

The delegation emphasised that all investigations must be carried out independently and without any pressure from the government or external influences, so that truth prevails and public confidence in the police is upheld.

Addressing the media later, Archit Naik reaffirmed the commitment of the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress to continue raising its voice until accountability is fixed and Goa is made drug-free.
