Present for the programme were GPCC President Girish Chodankar, Ponda Congress LeaderRajesh Verekar, Spokesperson Tulio D’Souza, General Secretary Adv Yatish Naik, General Secretary Vijai Pai, Menino D’Cruz, Secretary Everson Vales among other congress leaders.
The programme was hosted by Vijai Pai who introduced the leaders and they all offered garlands to Nehru. GPCC President Girish Chodankar quoted Jawaharlal Nehru “There is nothing more horrifying than stupidity in action” Chodankar said today’s scenario created by the BJP is indeed horrifying.
Chodankar asserted that Nehru always fought for the idea of Independent Goa since 1947. “Politicians from Maharashtra wanted to include Goa into their state but Nehru wanted Goa to be an independent state”
“Today even after the death of Nehru the BJP and RSS are trying to ruin his reputation by propaganda and false news, but the idea of Nehru is immortal” Concluded Chodankar.
GPCC General Secretary Adv Yatish Naik inferred that the institutions created by Nehru stand tall even to this date. “The politicians of the current government are endeavouring to destroy these institutions” he added.
“Pt. Nehru’s life is a message to all of us, if he wanted he could have lived his luxurious life but rather he chose the life sacrifice and worked as a freedom fighter. His ideological depth will always guide humanity” concluded Naik.
The event was concluded after a vote of thanks which was presented by GPCC Secretary Everson Vales.
