Govt to take action against pvt hospitals for unreported 67 deaths, AAP demands judicial probe

Panaji: Goa government on Monday warned action against the private hospitals after 67 COVID-19 deaths during the period of August, 2020 to May, 2021 were left unreported.

State Health Bulletin issued on Monday evening has added 67 deaths to the tally of mortalities taking the total toll to 2840. The state had reported 13 deaths on Monday.

The bulletin carried a footnote which read “67 additional death cases are added to cumulative deaths, which were of the period from 05/08/2020 to 22/05/2021 and have been reported late from private hospitals. Appropriate action under provision of public health act will be initiated against these hospitals.”

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has taken up the issue demanding Judicial inquiry into these unreported deaths.

AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre said that there should be inquiry into this scam.

“CM Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane should be ashamed of themselves of hiding these deaths,” he said.

He demanded that the state government should release a white paper of this 67 deaths within 24 hours.
