Panaji: Power Secretary Nila Mohanan today informed that it has been decided to replace the existing electrical wires with the aerial bunched cables.
Mohanan chaired meeting with the MLAs and electricity department officials from the sub-division covering Mapusa, Porvorim, Saligao, Bicholim and Mayem to discuss on the power crisis.
“We have decided to replace the existing electrical wires with aerial bunched cable at the earliest. On trial basis, we have replaced few, but we will cover entire State now, as per requirement,” she said.
Mohanan also informed that the meeting had detail discussion on non-functioning and maintenance of LED street lights, which will be now done through the agency itself.
It was informed at the meeting that the Sal power sub-station was in the final stage of finance approval and once approved it would give the people in the area uninterrupted power supply. Meeting informed that once the sub-stations at Badem and Karaswadda are ready, Mapusa will get sufficient power.
Also it was placed on record that a survey is going for the underground cabling work in Mapusa.
