Porvorim: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today told House that government will approach center for funds for providing relief to the flood affected families.
Sawant said that heavy rains inundated several villages and 150-odd families have being evacuated from their houses in last 48-hours.
He said that the State has witnessed 25 percent surplus rains till date.
“Villages in Pernem, Bicholim, Canacona, Bardez, have witnessed heavy flooding, with as many as 150-odd families being evacuated and rehabilitated to a safer site,” he said.
Sawant said that directions have been issued to Deputy Collector and Mamletdar’s to assess the damage and submit report.
“It will take atleast three-four days to quantify the exact quantum of loss. We would approach Center for funds,” he said.
Chief Minister also said that until then, necessary financial help would be provided to the affected parties through Chief Minister Relief Fund and under State Disaster Management.
