Govt delegation fails to get immediate relief from Centre on mining issue

Panaji: The seven-member delegation that had approached Central government for its intervention in resolving the mining issue, had to return empty handed, as it failed to get any immediate relief.

Lok Sabha MP Narendra Sawaikar, Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar, Speaker of State Legislative Assembly Dr Pramod Sawant, Minister Ramakrishan Dhavalikar and MLAs Nilesh Cabral and Ganesh Gaonkar , who had camped in Delhi since Wednesday. The delegation came back to Goa today evening.

The delegation held crucial meeting with Nripendra Misra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Misra has assured them to put up note before Prime Minister for further directions.

 MLA Nilesh Cabral said the delegation has stressed upon an ordinance to be passed by the Parliament, if review petition does not work out. “We have placed all the options before them. Now it is for the Prime Minister to take the decision,” he said.
