Governor of Goa, Shri P.S Sreedharan Pillai along with his spouse Smt. Reetha Sreeedharan Pillai today visited Sankhali Constituency as a Part of Sampurna Goa Yatra.
He started his Sankhali Constituency tour by visiting Kudne Pachayat where he interacted with Sarpanch and Panch Members Of Kudne Panchayat and discussed on historical places and temples like Surya Temple and Jain Temple in Kudnem village.
While interacting with the Sarpanchs and Panch Members Of Harvalem, Kudnem, Navelim, Pale-Cotombi, Velguem, Amona and Surla at Ravindra Bhavan Sankhali Governor said today I am completing my Sampurn Goa Yatra and expressed happiness over successfully visiting all the constituencies and 191 Panchayats of Goa. Through this Goa Sampurna Yatra Initiative i have visited various places which has historical importance, Temple’s, Masjid, and various churches across the Goa during this Yatra, he added.
People of Goa are good by heart. Whenever I visit temples and churches – unity in diversity was very evident during my visit to various religious places – the traditional concept of our country bi g strictly followed by the people of Goa. People from different religions maintain good relations too, he remarked.
Highlighting the Article 44 of Constitution the Governor said that Goa is the only State in India that has Uniform Civil Code regardless of religion, gender, caste. He expressed the need to highlight Goa in Medical tourism, villages tourism and in Hinterland tourism and added that the matter will be discussed with Chief Minister in details.
He further informed that the valedictory function of Goa Sampurna Yatra will be On November 26 . The Governor of Kerala and Chief Minister of Goa will be present on the occasion.
In His address Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant highlighted various initiatives taken by the Governor of Goa Shri. P.S Sreedharan Pillai to serve the needly people through his scheme financial assistance to dialysis patients, Cancer patients. Large number of orphanages, old age homes and other human service organizations received financial help under the initiative implemented by Raj Bhavan, he added.
For the First time in the history, the Governor has visited all Villages of State. The Governor has not just visited the villages but also interected with members of local bodies and has listened to theirs grievances and also visites various historical places to understand the rich history and culture lies there, he pointed. Governor has decided to write book on State of Goa in Malayalam and English language, he informed.
On the occasion Governor also felicitated Shri. Vithal Ladu Gawas, Shri. Jaywant Vaman Naik, Shri. Ramchandra Navelkar, Shri. Mahadev Arjun Malik, Shri. Madhukar Parab, Shri. Dinkar Ghadi, Shri. Ramkrishna Dhond, Shri. Uday Joshi, Shri. Vittal Usgaonkar, Shri. Vivek Jog, Shri. Shyamsundar Karpe, Shri. Shivanand Khedekar and Shri. Sudev Paranjape for their contribution in various fields and also distributed financial aid to 25 dialysis patients from Raj Bhavan Discretionary Fund at Ravindra Bhavan Sankhali.
Earlier the Governor visited Shree Rudreshwar Temple, Harvalem and invoked blessings and later visited Surla Masjid, Pale Cotombi.
Shri. Mihir Vardhan, IAS(Retd), and senior Government officials accompanied the Governor during the day long visit.
