14 November 2024: The Governor of Goa, Shri P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, emphasized that the medium of study should ideally be in the mother tongue. “Making the subject matter in the mother tongue enriches the language and preserves cultural heritage,” he added.
The Governor made these remarks after releasing four books by Central Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar-winning Konkani poetess Shraddha Garad at Raj Bhavan today.
Jnanpith awardee Shri Damodar Mauzo, Shri Pachu Menon, Shri Gajanan Velip, and Shraddha Garad received the first copies of the books.
Shri M. R. M. Rao, IAS, Secretary to the Governor, graced the occasion.
The Governor also handed over financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 to Shraddha Garad, who is currently undergoing medical treatment.
Earlier, Shri Dinesh Manerkar welcomed the guests.
