Governor Meets Central Asian Youth Delegation

Panaji: Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai met and interacted with the Central Asian Youth Delegation, which is on a three-day visit to Goa, at Old Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, today. This initiative aims to promote youth collaboration, cultural exchange, and strengthen diplomatic ties between India and the Central Asian nations.

Sports Minister Govind Gaude was also present during the interaction. Others present on the occasion included M. R. M. Rao, IAS, Secretary to the Governor, and Manjula Juneja, Under Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.

Addressing the delegates, Governor Pillai said that India’s popularity stems from its rich culture, history, and contributions to the world. He emphasized that India welcomes people without any form of discrimination.

The Governor further stated that such youth exchange programs reinforce India’s commitment to regional peace, friendship, and economic partnerships with Central Asia, ensuring that these bonds of goodwill continue to flourish in the years to come.

Sports Minister Govind Gaude said that the visit of the delegation will serve as a catalyst for future collaborations, promoting cross-cultural understanding, leadership development, and international cooperation in key sectors.

Gaude further highlighted that art and culture celebrate human diversity, fostering inclusivity, tolerance, and understanding. He added that youth have a powerful imagination to explore, which drives innovation and has the potential to shape the future with creative ideas.

The youth delegation, comprising 100 members from five Central Asian countries—Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, called on the Governor. The purpose of this visit is to foster greater mutual understanding among youth from Central Asian countries and India.

M. R. M. Rao, IAS, Secretary to the Governor, welcomed the guests and briefed them about the various activities of Raj Bhavan, Goa.

A delegate from each country shared their experiences and aspirations on the occasion.

Manjula Juneja, Under Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, proposed the vote of thanks.
