Panaji: Goa government on Tuesday announced relief to the power consumers in the state amidst complaints of high power bills.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced a total rebate of Rs 18.3 crores to Electricity Department consumers.
“50 per cent of fixed charges are waived for April and May for all low tension domestic, commercial and other categories,” Sawant said.
He also said that for high tension consumers the difference of the billed maximum demand charges and atual recorded maximum demand charges for April and May 2020 are waived.
Several organizations including Congress party had protested against steep hike in the electricity bills received by the consumers during the pandemic time.
