Panaji: President of Gomantak Mazdoor Sangh, Puti Gaonkar took strong objection to the statement made by Health Minister Vishwajit Rane against class IV employees of the government run hospitals.

Gaonkar was reacting to the threat given by Rane to invoke ESMA, if the employees strike the work.

He said that  class IV employees are doing all the work of their original designation and to do sweeping and cleaning work.

Gaonkar has given the contract to eco cleaning and Vijay cleaning for crores of rupees, which is a waste of public money.

“In fact, in the Government order work of cleaning and sweeping has to be done through Human Resource corporation of state Government,” he said.

“In the past,  Goa medical college use to supply Goan food within Rs 4 to 6 crores per year but now canteen contract is given for Rs 16 crores a year,” he pointed out.

“The food supplied by new contractor is not Goan food and now he should inspect the quality,” Gaonkar demanded adding that the employees employed by contractors are all outsiders  .

“The class IV employees are working in spite of acute shortages of staff . Before making any statements against classIV employee . Health Minister should study their workings conditions and the work done by them.”
