Dr Ajit Salunke delivered an invited talk on Intelligent Mechatronic Systems for Physical Properties Based Quality Grading of Agricultural Edible Nuts: Integrating Machine Vision and IoT at the 2026 4th International Conference on Mechatronics, Control and Robotics (ICMCR 26) in Tokyo, Japan. The conference was co-sponsored by IEEE and Jeju National University, South Korea, and hosted by the Sensors and Systems Society of Singapore.

During his presentation, Dr Salunke highlighted his research on objective quality grading of agricultural edible nuts using physical properties such as density and porosity, with volume estimation performed through machine vision. He explained the feasibility of this approach for real-time grading of arecanut kernels based on true density and also described the IoT-based system developed for preliminary screening of kernel batches.

The conference brought together researchers from various countries, including Japan, Canada, Poland, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, India, Kosovo, Taiwan, Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand, to exchange their research findings. The papers will be published in the ICMCR 2026 Conference Proceedings, which will be archived in IEEE Xplore and submitted for indexing in Ei Compendex and Scopus.
