Panaji: Goa Forward Party’s Youth wing has welcomed Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu’s decision to have announcements in local languages across all the Airports in the country.
Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai had pioneered the cause when he demanded that the in-flight announcements on Goa Airport should be done in Konkani.
Goa Youth Forward President Raj Malik, addressing a press conference, said that Sardesai had telephonically spoken to Prabhu on this issue, only after which the Civil Aviation Ministry has issued directions to all the Airports.
“We have always been supporting the cause of Konkani. We thank Prabhu and our President Sardesai for taking up the issue and fulfilling the aspirations of Goans,” Malik said.
He claimed it as “victory for Goans.”
Accusing the political opponents of Sardesai, Malik said “there are some people who act like Puppets and make statements which are against the welfare of the State.”
“ All the states have welcomed our statement while Congress has opposed it. We can see it on the social media,” Malik said.
He said that Sardesai is being targeted by certain section because he is working for the cause of Goans. “Our language and culture has to be taken forward by youth. Goa Youth forward is every Goan and youth,” he added.
