Panaji: Goa Forward Party’s women wing Sunday demanded that the contract to clean beaches should be given to Goan Women Self Help Groups.
“The beach cleaning work should be given to the Goan women. I think they will be very happy as it will give them source of income,” GWF President Ashma Sayed told reporters in Panaji.
The government is currently witnessing spat between BJP MLA Michael Lobo and State Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar over beach cleaning contract.
The GWF also demanded that the casino vessels should be moved out of River Mandovi on priority, as they are affecting women of the State.
Goa Women Forward (GWF), a women wing of the party, was launched on Sunday.
“As a woman president and on behalf of other women, I feel that casinos are very much affecting the women,” she said.
“Our demand as Goa women forward is that casino should be out of River Mandovi. They should be removed,” she said.
