Goa to provide coworking spaces on its Beaches

Panaji: You will be able to work and then move on the beach to surf and join the work again through a unique concept of Co-working spaces on the Beaches.

State Information and Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte told the House on Wednesday night that the State government is going to promote a culture of #WorkationGoa through Coworking spaces to be created on the Beaches.

Khaunte said that in the initial phase, Benaulim beach in South Goa and Morjim and Miramar in North Goa has been identified to set up co-working spaces.

“A person can work, go and surf on the beach and come back, take a shower and join back the work through these coworking spaces on the Beach,” the minister said.

Khaunte said that many companies are giving its employees a liberty to work from Home. “We want this type of people, who would opt to work from Home, to come here and work from these coworking spaces and also help us in the IT ecosystem,” he added.

Speaking during the demands for Grants for Information Technology department, Khaunte said that Goa want to be developed on the lines of T-Hub.

T-Hub is an innovation intermediary and business incubator based in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Based on the triple helix model of innovation, it is a partnership between the Government of Telangana, three academic institutes in Hyderabad and the private sector.

“To develop the State as T-Hub we need spaces. We have already started advertising asking for the spaces to create coworking spots. Today, we are ready with the data base,” he said.

Khaunte said that the state needs to create skilled manpower required for the IT industry. “The existing manpower is already absorbed by the industry. We need to skill the new manpower and upskill and reskill the existing ones,” he said adding that State governmnt is going to sign MoU with Telangana based TASK (Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge) for the purpose.
