Panaji: Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has come in full support of getting the Taxi service in the state on the App.
Talking to reporters on Saturday, Khaunte said that he has been always supporting App-based taxi service in the state as we need to adopt the technology.
“We need to protect business of the existing Taxi operators and also adopt the technology. That is why I support the concept of getting all the taxis on a common App,” he said.
Khaunte said that he has already spoken to chief minister Pramod Sawant and State Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho over the issue.
“State government and the industry should come together and design an App for the Tourist Taxi service. He said that such a facility is required for the tourists who would like to have better experience during their travel to the coastal state,” the Tourism Minister added.
Speaking about the new Greenfield Airport at Mopa, that is scheduled to be commissioned in September this year, Khaunte said that the State government needs to know how many Taxis that would be required to cater to this Airport.
“We should be giving additional permits to those taxis,” he said adding that the possibility of electric vehicles should also be considered at this new facility.
