Dona Paula:  Goa Suraksha Manch today protested near the venue of BJP National President Amit Shah’s workers’ meeting.

The GSM protestors were upset over the reported statement of Shah during Karnataka election rally in which he had assured to provide Mahadayi water to the farmers, if the party is voted to power. Goa and Karnataka are having a dispute over the sharing of Mahdayi river water.

“We want to convey to Shah that Goa does not welcome his statement on Mahadayi. Both the states are fighting the case of is being fought in Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal,” GSM President Anand Shirodkar told reporters.

He said that the protest was symbolic to convey the message to Shah.

The protestors who were walking to Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, where Shah was supposed to address party workers, were stopped 300 metres away by police force.
