Panaji: Goa Sports Minister Govind Gaude on Friday said that the Indian Olympics Association has formally issued the letter asking Goa to host the upcoming National Games.
Gaude told reporters in Margao town that the State has received letter from Indian Olympics Association inviting the state to host National Games 2023.
The minister said that after closing ceremony of 36th National Games at Surat, Gujarat on October 12, Goa would be receiving the flag indicating that the state would be the host for the next games.
“Goans have been waiting for this moment for years,” he said.
Gaude said he has emphasized that the National Games would be hosted in Goa in the year 2023. He said that the infrastructure required to host these games would be ready by December, 2022.
The minister said that the schedule for the National Games 2023 would be chalked out after consulting Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
