Panaji: Goa Police have made elaborate arrangements to ensure that the New Year celebrations are held without any untoward incident.
Director General of Police Muktesh Chandar said that considering the huge inflow of tourists expected to celebrate new year, elaborate arrangements are put in place specially in the coastal belt.
“To ensure that there is no traffic jams on December 30 and 31 nights, we have also worked out different plans while police personnels are being posted at every point,” he added.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Dharmesh Angle said “in the coastal areas we have beefed up the staff specially at Miramar, Calangute, Baga, Arambol so that the tourists are taken care of.”
“We have also posted extra staff at Zuari bridge. We are trying to regulate. My appeal to the public is to cooperate with the traffic police,” he added.
