Panaji: All the cities, towns and villages of Goa were shut down with hardly anyone venturing out of their homes as the country observed Janata Curfew day on Sunday to fight back Coronavirus.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant released his pictures of playing chess with his daughter at his private residence at Sankhalim urging the citizens to spend quality time with their families.
The streets, beaches, markets and other public places wore deserted look on Sunday morning. Goa Church has cancelled its Sunday mass prayers urging the faithfuls to stay indoor.
Various temples in the state including Lord Manguesh Temple at Mangueshi, Mahalsa Narayani Temple at Mardol and Shree Kamaxidevi Temple at Shiroda, all in North Goa, were amongst the Hindu religious places that were shut down.
The announcements have also been made to cancel upcoming ‘GudiPadwa’ festivities in the state which is scheduled later this week.
Meanwhile, Sawant releasing his pictures of spending time with the family and also working from home said that he has asked his support staff to work from home.
“I am reviewing and monitoring the situation across the state with respect to movement on borders as well as healthcare services,” he said.
“Also, I had an opportunity to spend some quality time with my family. I request everyone to stay indoors with your loves ones,” Sawant said.
In yet another statement, the chief minister also appealed media persons not to venture out and said that he would be providing visuals of Janata Curfew day across the Goa through the security agencies who are on duty.
