Panaji: Goa NSUI president Naushad Chowdhari on Friday alleged that state Congress chief Amit Patkar verbally abused and manhandled him at the party office on the even of Independence Day.
As per the complaint filed by Chowdhari with NSUI National President Varun Chaudhary, the former has accused Patkar of verbally abusing him at the door of Congress head office in Panaji on August 14.
Chowdhari said that he had visited the office ahead of the scheduled protest against “Vote Chori”.
The complaint quotes Chowdhari alleging that Patkar verbally abused him and pushed him accusing him of not taking him into confidence for NSUI activities.
“He pushed on the stairway, attacked me and caught me by collar of my shirt,” Chowdhari said, quoting two eye witnesses including Shrinivas Khalap, a Congress leader and son of former union minister Ramakant Khalap.
He also said that NSUI Secretary incharge of Goa Vaishnavi Bharadwaj was also present during the attack.
Chowdhari said that “such unprovoked aggression and use of such vile language by senior party official is completely unacceptable and goes against the principles of decency, respect and discipline that our party organisation stands for.”
The NSUI Goa chief has demanded immediate cognise of this matter and action against Patkar. “If no action is taken, we will be left with no choice but to register police complaint against Patkar,” the complaint reads.
When contacted, Patkar said that he would be offering the comments at appropriate time.
Chowdhari, speaking to reporters, said that he has informed the superiors about the incident and don’t want to speak further on the topic.
