Curchorem: The investigation into an alleged sex scandal involving minor girls has been handed over to the Crime Branch, a senior police official said on Tuesday.

The probe was transferred from Curchorem Police to the Crime Branch for further investigation. On March 22, Curchorem Police had arrested Soham Sushant Naik (20), son of a local councillor, in connection with the case.

The accused has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, the Goa Children’s Act, and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police said the complaint was filed on behalf of the state, alleging that obscene videos of minor girls were recorded and circulated. A senior officer noted that none of the victims have come forward to file a complaint so far, and the Crime Branch will attempt to reach out to them.

Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal reacted to the incident on social media, strongly condemning the alleged acts and calling for strict punishment for those found guilty, while emphasising the need to ensure justice for the victims.
