Goa man test positive for COVID-19 infection, health authorities should probe fear of community transmission

Panaji: A 41-year-old man who had travelled to Mumbai to get his family back in Goa has tested positive for COVID-19 infection on TrueNat test conducted on him.

Health department sources stated that the person had returned to Goa within 48 hours from Mumbai with the family.

While his family has tested negative, they are quarantined and will be tested again after 72 hours.

The questionmark is now raised whether community transmission has begun in the state. Health authorities need to investigate as his entire family has tested negative.

Whether this person was positive before going to Mumbai is a crucial question that will address the fear of community transmission in Goa.
