Panaji: Finally, Goa is heading for a minor reshuffle in its cabinet with Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat likely to be sworn in on Thursday.
State Environment minister Aleixo Sequeira told a local news channel that he would be resigning from the cabinet on Wednesday evening due to “personal reasons.”
The attempts by GNH to contact Sequeira fetched no response.
On the other hand, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar would be resigning from the post to pave way for his induction in the cabinet on Thursday. Tawadkar is expected to resign on Thursday morning, before heading to Raj Bhavan for swearing-in.
Former chief minister Digambar Kamat and Tawadkar would be inducted in a ceremony at 11 am at Raj Bhavan.
Sources also confirmed that Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar would be the next Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly. The election for the Speaker would be done after Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
