Panaji: State-run Investment Promotion Board (IPB) will be converted into single window system for the investment in industrial sectors in Goa, Industries minister Vishwajit Rane told the House.

Responding to the cut motions moved by opposition benches on Demands for Grants on Industries Department, Rane said that the government intends to bring in more investment in the State, which is crucial to make the Goa progressive.

Rane admitted that the IPB has not met for last nine months and is currently ceased to be a single window system for attracting investment.

“We want to make IPB, a real single window system wherein the investors don’t have to go to different places to get clearance for his investment proposal,” he said.

The minister said that during next three months, in a time bound manner, the IPB would be put in place and it would be synchronized with the Industries Department.

Referring to other issues plaguing industrial growth in the state, Rane said that there is tremendous encroachment on the lands in Industrial Estates run by Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).

He said the work of identifying the encroachments in the Industrial Estates would be outsourced to an agency which will submit its report.  .

Pointing out to the speeches of the opposition benches on the floor of the House during the discussion on demands for grants on Wednesday, Rane appealed the members not to create sensation about the issues on industrial sector.

“If we go on driving the industry away and creating sensation, none will look at Goa to invest,” he said.

“We need to look at prosperous Goa.. We should not create uncertain environment in Goa.. Be a part of this progressive Goa.. This is a way forward,” the minister added.
