Goa govt to have 5,000 seating capacity Convention Centre for IFFI

Panaji: Goa government has proposed to establish a 5,000 seating capacity Convention Centre near Panaji which will be hosting events like annual International Film Festival of India (IFFI), chief minister Pramod Sawant told the House on Tuesday.

In a written reply tabled on the floor of the House to a question tabled by Congress MLA Ravi Naik during ongoing legislative assembly session, Sawant said that the project would be on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis.

He said that the government has a proposal to establish a Convention Centre in the state of around 5,000 seating capacity.

The chief minister said that the Convention Centre would be equipped with  requisite ancillary facilities including requirement of the Entertainment Society of Goa for conducting the International Festival of India.

“The project is planned to be executed on Public Private Partnership Model. The Request for Proposals (RFP) for appointment of Concessionaire for the project is floated via e-tendering mode,” he said.

“The Concession Agreement which is the part of Request For Proposals document is awaiting approval of Council of Ministers,” Sawant added informing that the cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 1,100 crore.

He said that the land admeasuring area 2,09,706.00 Sq. mtr. is allotted for the project at Dona Paula  near Panaji which is in possession of Info Tech Corporation of Goa Limited.
