Goa govt to e-auction Iron Ore mining leases: CM

Panaji: Goa government has taken a proactive step and initiated the process to take over the 88 mining leases and it has also geared up the process of e-auctioning of mining leases, chief minister Pramod Sawant said.

Addressing a state level function held to mark 100 days of Sawant-led government, Sawant listed out various achievements of his government in the second tenure which they got after February 2022 Goa Legislative Assembly elections.

Speaking about the mining sector, Sawant said “Government took a proactive step and initiated the process to take over the 88 leases also it has geared up the process of e-auctioning of mining leases.”

As far as Industrial sector is concerned, Sawant said that new Industrial Growth and Investment Promotion Policy 2022 has been unveiled to strengthen and improve Ease of Doing business.

He said that initiatives and reforms implemented by the department relating to te Business Reform Action Plan are being reviewed by the government with focus to improve our services to provide ease of doing business. “As per Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Goa has improved its ranking from 24 to 16,” the chief minister said.

In yet another achievement, Sawant said that Rs 20 crore are allocated for restoration of temples destroyed during Portuguese era.

On the front of Tourism, Sawant said that online approval and registration services were launched for renewal of permission of all types. These services were launched facilitating ease of doing business for tourism stakeholders.

Sawant said that the Goa Tourism has witnessed a steady growth in tourist arrivals even after being affected by three waves of COVID-19. Even after three COVID-19 waves, 1940683 domestic and 33841 foreign tourists visited Goa from March 2022 to May 2022.
