Goa govt to ask private sectors to release full month salary

Panaji: Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant will issue orders to the private sector to release salary of full month to its staff so that they can buy the essential items during the lockdown period, a senior minister said.

State Port Minister Michael Lobo after meeting Chief Minister told reporters in Panaji that the state government will issue orders to the private sector to release full month’s salary to its staff.

“If we want people to stay indoor then we need to take care of their essentials. People should have money with them,” Lobo said.

The minister said that the government will also release the full month salaries to its employees.

All the government and private sector establishments are closed down during lockdown period observed to control spread of Coronavirus infection.

Lobo also said that the chief minister has been urged to speak to his neighbouring counterparts from Maharashtra and Karnataka to ensure that the supply of essential commodities is not stopped.

He said that the trucks carrying essential commodities are stopped by Maharashtra government on the way to Goa.

Lobo said that the state has supplies essential for eight to ten days.
