Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Monday reviewed the pre-monsoon preparations in the state, holding meeting with all the agencies including central forces.
State Disaster Management Authority on Monday met at Porvorim under the chairmanship of CM Sawant, which discussed the pre-monsoon preparations across the state, specially in the flood-prone areas.
The chief minister’s office, in a media statement released here, has said that the CM has approved financial disbursal of Rs 35,000 for each village panchayat, Rs 60,000 for B category municipalities and Rs 1,10,000 for A category municipalities to undertake pre-monsoon works.
The South West monsoon hits the coastal state every year in the first week of June.
The meeting on Monday was attended by Revenue Minister Atanasio Monserrate, Chief Secretary and Senior Officials of the Concerned Departments including Public Works Department, Electricity, Water Resources Department, Fire and Emergency services, Health department and the Indian Navy.
During the meeting, the chief minister directed every department to appoint a dedicated Nodal Officer to respond to any query, issue during the Monsoon period.
“CM directed the PWD department to identify Dilapidated and Dangerous Structure and take necessary actions including demolitions,” the CMO said.
The WRD was asked to carry out desilting of rivers to minimise flood issues during monsoon.
Both the district collectors were directed to keep vigilance & prepare systems to minimize losses due any unforeseen situation.
