Goa govt constitutes Information Technology advisory council

Panaji: The Goa government on Wednesday constituted Information Technology Advisory Council to advice the government on measures to build a StartUp and IT ecosystem.

Director of Information and Technology Praveen Volvoikar on Wednesday notified the council which is led by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and IT Minister Rohan Khaunte as its co-chairperson.

The 15-member-council has representation of the industry, IT sector and also State government representatives.

“The IT Advisory council shall advice the State on measures needed to build a strong StartUP and IT ecosystem which would help to drive sustainable economic growth and generate large scale employment opportunities,” the order reads.

The council may request Special Invitees to be part of the meeting as per the subject matter under consideration, the order adds.

Renowned IT expert and Chairman of Aarin Capital Mohandas Pai is one of the prominent member on the council along with Goa Public Service Commission Chairman Jose Manual Noronha and Chairman of Dempo Group of Companies Shrinivas Dempo.

The representation is also given to the B-schools including Goa Institute of Management, Indian Institute of Technology, National Institute of Technology and BITS Pillani Goa campus.
