Panaji: The Goa cabinet on Monday approved seven major projects, totaling Rs 2,500 crore, to be executed through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting, said that work on these projects is expected to commence within the next 10–15 days.
The state’s public sector undertaking, NBCC (National Buildings Construction Corporation), will implement the projects under the PPP framework.
“These projects include the redevelopment of Junta House and Circuit House buildings in Panaji, construction of the new Prashasan Sthamb near Panaji, reconstruction of Government Quarters at St Inez, Panaji, redevelopment of the Government Garage in Panaji, and construction of Kadamba Transport Corporation’s bus stand at Vasco in South Goa,” the Chief Minister said.
He added that undertaking these projects solely through government funding would have required at least Rs 2,500 crore. The PPP route, he noted, will ensure faster completion without putting a strain on the state’s finances.
