Raj Bhavan (Odissa): The Governor of Goa, P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, is an author endowed with vivid imagination and sharp language, acclaimed writer and Jnanpith awardee Dr. Pratibha Rai has said. She was speaking while receiving the first copy of the Oriya translation of P.S. Sreedharan Pillai’s short story collection “Tatha Varathirikkilla” titled “Ashara Aaloka” from Odisha Governor Raghubar Das.
Dr. Rai remarked that the Oriya translation of Sreedharan Pillai’s stories serves as a gateway to the world of Malayalam stories and culture for readers in Odisha.
The grand ceremony, held at the Odisha Raj Bhavan Hall in Bhubaneswar, saw the participation of prominent figures from the fields of art, literature, and culture in Odisha. The translation of this short story collection was executed by the noted Oriya translator Dr. Niranjan Sahu.
Professors Jatin Nayak and Jeevananda Mishra, among others, also spoke at the event.
The author, P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, responded to the accolades and expressed his reflections.
The ceremony also included a brief reference to Travancore, reflecting on its historical significance and its contribution to the cultural and literary heritage of Kerala, from where Sreedharan Pillai hails.
