Goa government to replace traditional fleet of KTCL with electric vehicles: CM

Porvorim: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Saturday said that the traditional fleet of state run Kadamba Transport Corporation running on diesel would be replaced with the electric vehicles.


Sawant was addressing a function near Panaji to mark the anniversary of the state run corporation, which started in the year 1980 to cater to the public transport requirement in the rural parts of the state.


The Chief Minister said that the age-old buses which are running on diesel would be soon replaced with the electric buses, promoting the green transportation in the coastal state.
Sawant the staff of the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited on its 44th anniversary recognising their value contribution to his important public transport corporation.

Speaking on the occasion, Sawant said that the main focus of the KTCL management and staff should be to bring this corporation into profit.

He pointed out that despite incurring losses, Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) remains committed to providing uninterrupted services, ensuring transportation for all, even with minimal passenger numbers.

“I urge people to reduce their use of two-wheelers and cars and instead opt for public transportation, which is a reasonable and convenient option for daily commuters and long-distance travelers alike. This shift will help decrease road accidents and alleviate traffic congestion,” he said.
