In a bid to modernize the local transport ecosystem and support traditional taxi operators, the Goa Government has introduced the Goa Taxi Driver App. The initiative is aimed at enhancing digital participation among local drivers while offering a more seamless travel experience for commuters.

To encourage early adoption, the government is offering a special incentive: the first 500 taxi drivers who complete 50 rides via the app and remain active for at least 30 days (between 8 AM and 8 PM) will receive 25 litres of free fuel. The fuel type—petrol, diesel, or CNG—will be provided based on the vehicle’s requirements.

The app is designed to simplify the booking process, improve driver visibility, and ensure transparent, fair pricing for passengers. Officials noted that the platform also seeks to reduce dependence on private ride-hailing services, thereby empowering local drivers and fostering a more tourism-friendly transportation network.

The Transport Department has called on taxi drivers across Goa to register and actively engage with the platform to take advantage of the fuel reward and future government-backed initiatives.
