Panaji: Claiming that MGP was trying to poach into their panch members at Curti-Khandepar village panchayat, the Goa Forward Party (GFP) today said that such acts of alliance partners will reflect in the stability of the State government.

GFP Vice President Durgadas Kamat addressing a press conference along with party’s Ponda leader Rajesh Verenkar and members of Curti-Khandepar village panchayat alleged that one of their panch member was forced to sign on the no-confidence motion by MGP worker Ketan Bhatikar.

Deputy Sarpanch Shailesh Shet, who alleged that he was forced to sign on the No Confidence Motion, was also present for the press conference along with Sarpanch Santan Fernandes.

Kamat said that Shet had gone to meet Bhatikar at his residence, when other panch members owing allegince to MGP, also surfaced there and he was made to sign the motion.

“The incident that happened in Ponda constituency has to be condemned. GFP has formed this panchayat along with BJP six months back. Out of 11, six panch members are supporting Santan Fernandes,” Kamat said.

“In the month of August, when we inaugurated the office, our chief Vijai Sardesai assured that at least one minister would be there, once a month,” he said.

“We have taken up works  in this constituency.

Certain behaviour of the MGP leaders will create problems in the alliance government. They are indulging in Childish behaviour. They can’t digest the fact that the ministers are coming to Ponda and speeding up the pace of developmental works,” the GFP Vice President alleged.

“I would like to tell the MGP workers that politics is not physiotherapy. And doctors should always give healing hand,” he commented.

“If this kind of behaviour by alliance partners continues, then this pressure will not be restricted to panchayats but will pass on to government,” he said.

“We all follow Mahatma Gandhi but we don’t run our party through Gandhigiri ways. We know how to retaliate. MGP should try to follow alliance dharma. If they try to destabilize Curti-Khandepar panchayat, then the pressure would be felt on the government,” Kamat reiterated.

The GFP leader said that they had  spoken to MGP President Dipak Dhavalikar, who has said that they don’t support the act of their worker. “We have told them that if they are trying to destabilize the panchayat, then the impact would be on the government of Goa,” he added.

Santan Fernandes, Sarpanch, Curti-Khandepar said that  Ketan Bhatikar tried poach on  deputy sarpanch and get him in their panel.

“If they want to develop Ponda, then they need not take away our panch members, they can very well repair the roads,” he added.
