Margao: Goa Forward Party on Thursday demanded white paper on the state’s readiness to tackle COVID-19 health emergency in the state.
Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai said that the state must inform the public whether it is prepared to handle the situation.
“We demand an immediate White Paper on the state of readiness of the state government to tackle a COVID-19 health emergency in Goa,” he said.
Sardesai said that in fiew of the first three confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Goa, the State government needs to assure Goans that it is adequately prepared for a COVID-19 health emergency.
Sardesai has asked how Goa is prepared with remedial measures to tackle the outbreak. “Which Hospitals are designated and prepared in the North Districts as dedicated COVID-19 treatment Hospitals? Where is the isolation centre?,” he questioned.
He has asked how many ICU beds is government equipped with.
Following are the more questions asked by Sardesai:
4) How many VENTILATORS do we have? How many more have you ordered? From Where? When are they expected?
5) What is the estimated requirement of ICU Beds and Ventilators as per your experts for Goa if, God forbid, an Emergency strikes Goa?
6) How many PRIVATE HOSPITAL ICU BEDS are requisitioned by the Government of Goa if there is a spike in cases?
7) What is the number of PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT such as GOWNS, REUSABLE MASKS, etc that we have in stock to protect our HEATHCARE Givers?
8) What is the extent of stock of VACCINES and THERAPEUTICS required to deal with FULL BLOWN CASES with CO-MORBIDITIES such as Diabetes, Hypertension, Asthma, Kidney Problems, etc. that we have in our inventory?
9) What is the STANDARD OPERATING PROTOCOL (SOP) laid down if, God forbid, in an emergency there is a need for RATIONING OF ICU BEDS and VENTILATORS as it is happening in Europe, particularly Italy and Spain?
10) What measures are taken and provisions made to protect the LOGISTICS WORKFORCE (such as Essential Commodities delivery staff, etc.) and ENFORCEMENT WORKFORCE (such as Collectors, Mamlatdars, Police, etc.)?
