Margao: Goa Forward Party on Sunday rubbished fake social media posts against it which had alleged their support to Congress, while clarifying that its former minority cell Chairman Firoz Khan has not been with the party since 2017.
Some of the mischievous elements had ran a social media campaign pointing out to the participation of Khan in the election related public meeting of Congress, attributing his participation to Goa Forward’s support to Mapusa by-poll Congress candidate.
Party’s Vice President Durgadas Kamat has issued a statement rubbishing the entire campaign unleashed by frustrated elements.
“With reference to post being circulated on Social Media regarding Goa Forward Minority Chairman Firoz Khan and his team extending support to Congress candidate for Mapusa by-polls. We would like to clarify that above mentioned individual hasn’t been with us since the assembly poll results in 2017,” Kamat has said.
“Goa Forward Party has disbanded the Minority Wing long back in 2018 and party is yet to announce the new Minority Wing which will be done soon post Lok Sabha election,” he has added.
Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai has openly supported the candidature of BJP candidate Joshua D’Souza for Mapusa by-election. The party has specifically said that they will stand with the official candidates of BJP-led alliance in all the constituencies.
Interestingly, Sardesai has remained firm with coalition government right from day one.
