Panaji: Goa Forward Party on Thursday accused Public Works Department Minister Deepak Pauskar of violating the central government’s policy decision to shun the trade with Iran by indulging in buying bitumen from that country.

GFP Vice President Durgadas Kamat said that Pauskar’s statement of procuring bitumen required to repair the roads from Iran, contradicts the decision of central government to shun trade with Iran due to the ongoing sanction by the USA on that country.

“Does the minister understand seriousness of the statement?  Isn’t it violating the foreign policy of their own government?,” Kamat said addressing a press conference in Panaji.

He recalled that India has stopped procuring crude oil from Iran due to sanctions by the USA.

“The central government has decided to follow the US sanction.. Our minister is speaking of importing bitumen from Iran. Does CM has control over the ministers or we have separate foreign policy for the state,” he questioned.
