Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday welcomed Parliament’s passage of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, describing it as a major reform that will boost ease of living and ease of doing business.
In a post on social media, Sawant said the legislation was a “transformative step” towards building a more trust-based and citizen-centric governance framework.
He congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Piyush Goyal for what he termed a landmark reform reinforcing the spirit of “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance”.
The chief minister said the progressive legislation removes outdated provisions, promotes decriminalisation, reduces compliance burden and ensures faster resolution of cases, thereby enhancing ease of living for citizens and improving the business environment for enterprises.
Sawant also said the consultative approach adopted while drafting the Bill reflected inclusive and forward-thinking policymaking, taking into account diverse stakeholder perspectives.
He complimented all those who contributed to shaping the reform and supported its passage in Parliament.
