Panaji: Goa Legislative Assembly on Friday passed a resolution congratulating NDA Presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu for winning the election.
BJP MLA Daji Krishna Salkar moved a resolution on the floor of the House during ongoing Session of the Assembly. All the MLAs including Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo supported the resolution.
Speaking on the resolution, chief minister Pramod Sawant said that BJP is the only party that gives opportunities and platform to its cadres to be elected on the highest posts of the country.
Sawant said that he himself rose to the post of chief minister from a common cadre due to the policy of the BJP.
The chief minister congratulated Murmu for winning the election with historic margin. Sawant also pointed out that three of the MLAs from opposition cross voted in her favour showing her popularity. He thanked all the three MLAs for supporting her candidature.
Speaker of Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar said that it is a matter of pride that a tribal woman has been elected on this highest position.
“This is possible only when the leadership of country is al inclusive,” he added.
