Goa Assembly complex to get a facelift

Panaji: Twenty years after its inauguration, Goa Legislative Assembly Complex will get a facelift in the days to come.

State run Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) in its meeting held on Thursday cleared the proposal for facelift of the assembly complex, which was inaugurated in the year 2000 at the hands of then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

The building is located at Porvorim village, next to Panaji which houses Assembly Hall and several other offices.

“Major facelift work related to Goa Legislative Assembly Complex will  be taken up with project cost of around Rupees seven crores,” GSIDC spokesman said .

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant chaired the meeting.

“The meeting discussed on various aspects pertaining to GSIDC and major decisions were taken after discussing on it,” he said.

“All works related to Goa Dental College and Hospital at Bambolim were approved and it was told that the building will be ready within next six months,” the spokesman said.

“The meeting also discussed on new High Court Complex building and it was told that same will be completed by December 2020.”

He said that the meeting also resolved for one stop centre at Bambolim to be constructed under central scheme to support women affected by violence in society, family, community and work place so as to provide them integrated support and assistance which include legal, psychological and counseling.
