Saleli/Sattari: The prima facie investigation into the one-month-old child kidnapping from Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has revealed that the accused Vishranti Gawas had faked her pregnancy to the family before allegedly lifting the child from the state run facility.

Goanewshub visited Saleli village on Sunday to know the details of the case. While neighbours refused to speak anything, Mohan, husband of the accused, also did not entertain the media.

“You should have come here yesterday. I am not supposed to tell you anything now,” he said while also rubbishing the theory that he was pressuring his wife for a boy child after four daughters.

“That is what you feel… That is what you are saying,” he said when asked whether he was pressuring his wife for a boy child.

VISHRANTI FAKED HER PREGANANCY

As per the statement given by her husband to the investigating officials, Vishranti faked her pregnancy for months together before leaving to GMCH on May 03 under the pretext of delivering a child.

She went alone with the excuse that no one else would be allowed to accompany her due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Police records suggest that Vishranti never got admitted in GMCH but instead continued staying in the premises of the hospital for 10 days.

She was regularly calling back home informing her husband that she has delivered a baby boy.

FAKED DISCHARGE, FAKE BABY

On May 14, Vishranti informed her husband that she is coming home with the baby. While he insisted that he would come to pick her up, she told him that there is another woman who is travelling up to Sankhalim and she is getting a lift.

Her husband picked Vishranti at Sankhalim where she was holding something in hand, which she pretended to be a new born baby.

NO ONE SAW THE CHILD

When Vishranti came back home, she did not allow anyone to see the child claiming that he was having issues and she would show his face to the family at right time. She was spending time with the baby at her home at Saleli. None of the four daughters were allowed to see the face of the child.

WHAT HAPPENED ON FATEFUL DAY

On the fateful day, Vishranti left with her pretended child like thing to show her to the doctor claiming that he has some skin infection.

Police investigations have revealed that she first went to Asilo Hospital at Mapusa in search of someone with a month old child. From there she went to GMCH where she met an Oriya woman with a child who was accompanied with her husband and another lady. Vishranti befriended her. The child was brought for polio immunization. Vishranti kidnapped child from there.

HOW SHE REACHED SALELI

First she went to a motorcycle pilot asking how much would be charge her to ferry her to Marcel. He quoted Rs 300. Since she didn’t had that much amount on her, she took Kadamba bus to reach to Panaji bus stand and from there took another bus till Satyaheera Hotel, Mapusa. When she was walking towards Mapusa court, she hitched a lift from a scooter rider who was heading towards Sal. She got down at Assnora and from there caught another bus to reach Saleli.

PLANNED  CEREMONY TO NAME THE CHILD

When she returned with the child, entire family was happy as they saw his face for the first time. She even planned a ceremony scheduled next day to name the child. Entire plan was failed when Police finally reached up to her and arrested her rescuing the child.
